A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION THAT WILL HELP YOU AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN YOUR LIFE
RESOLVE TO PUT YOUR SMARTPHONE DOWN
Life is too short to be wasting it on checking how many "Likes" you have today....spend it with the ones you love.
How do you feel when someone is staring at their cell phone
while you are speaking to them?
How do you think your kids feel when you do this to them?
Or your husband, wife,
Our relationships with our cell phones are taking away from our relationships with the people in our lives. These habits are disrespectful and can be damaging, especially when
dealing with our kids.
Research shows that unplugging from social media and emailing for 3 days can dramatically change your life.
As parents, we are not focusing on our children. We give them half attention. They don't feel like a priority or that we are fun to be with and they are becoming frustrated trying to get our attention. Being semi-present is having a negative impact on kids. And, we as parents, are missing some of lives finest moments!
As spouses, we are creating distance. This new ad
diciton to technology distracts couples from communicating with one another and creates emotional distance in the same way that drugs, and other addictions do. In addition, the constant need to check your phone creates suspicion between couples and ruins their levels of trust.
As adult children, we are not giving our aging parents the respect they deserve.
We sometimes forget that we will not have our parents forever and as they age we should be enjoying our time with them and giving them our full attention. They feel unimportant and disrespected when we are looking at our phone while "listening" to them converse with us.
